We learn who we are
by what we eat

Food has always been, and always will be, a tangible connection to culture. We gather around meals to share stories. We pass down recipes like family heirlooms. We recreate dishes to revive memories of people and places from our past. Each ingredient is a key that unlocks our layered identities. But some of Montreal’s Jewish foods are lost, disappearing, or unknown. We want to ensure they make it to your plate. Fletchers doesn’t just serve Jewish food. We explore Montreal’s diverse Jewish food heritage to reawaken traditions, reimagine the classics, and reconnect community.

Fletchers Espace Culinaire is the food space of the Museum of Jewish Montreal. It’s located within the Museum and serves modern Jewish food six days a week. Our aim is to explore and introduce people to Jewish culture through the medium of food, as another way to explore the city’s diverse Jewish stories.
The Wandering Chew creates unique events including pop-up dinners, cooking classes, and special culinary programming. We aim to preserve, revitalize, and innovate Jewish food traditions at our events by educating participants about the history behind beloved Jewish foods, as well as going beyond the familiar to introduce people to the vast world of Jewish cuisine.
