Esther Marovitch: Camp MaroMac, The Place To Be!

Listen to Esther Marovitch as she recalls the experience of running Camp MaroMac, Quebec's premiere Jewish summer camp for nearly fifty years. Growing up in Montreal's N.D.G, now known as the Monkland Village, she met her future husband, Sydney, while at Monkland's High School and later graduated from MacDonald College of McGill University as well as Concordia University. Both teachers, Esther and Sydney founded the camp in 1968 with the purpose of providing kids with educational development, lasting relationships, and valuable life skills alongside their summer fun - all within a safe and caring environment. Here, Esther looks back at how Camp MaroMac received its unique name, began to grow during the early years, served as an example for other camps to follow in athletics, water sports, and cultural activity, as well as what it all meant to her and to the thousands of children her, Sydney, and later, son Joseph, took care of as their own every summer.
