Muriel Gold: Theatre in Montreal

Listen to director/producer, educator, actor, and author Muriel Gold talk about her accomplishments, challenges, and the many positions she's held in her long career in Montreal theatre. Muriel Gold served as the Artistic Director of the Saidye Bronfman Centre from 1972-1980, where she introduced many influential policies into the centre, such as introducing French Canadian plays to Anglophone Montrealers and bringing Dora Wasserman's Yiddish Theatre into permanent residency. Muriel Gold also holds a Ph.D. in Theatre from Concordia University and an M.A. in Developmental Drama from McGill, and she has taught and directed at McGill University, Concordia University, and Dawson College. Furthermore, Muriel Gold is the author of several books, including books on actor training, Canadian theatre history, and Canadian Jewish history. In recognition of her achievements in theatre, in 2007 Muriel Gold was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada.
