MJAC Vitrine Exhibition Grant
Application Deadline: Sunday, January 25th at 11:59pm EST
Applicants applying to the Vitrine Exhibition Grant stream must be an MJAC member (i.e. an alum of MJM’s Microgrants Program, The Segal Centre’s JAM Fellowship, or KlezKanada’s Scholarship Program), and must reside in Montreal. We invite individual artists, duos, and trios to apply (if applying in a group, only one collaborator needs to be a member of MJAC).
New creative projects at any stage of development are welcome, as are proposals which blend projects initially undertaken through the MJM, Segal Centre, or KlezKanada. Selected projects will be on view at our location at H. Fisher & Fils (4129 St. Laurent Boulevard) for a minimum of 3 months.
All applications should demonstrate how the project considers the site specificity of the H. Fisher building, and its connection to Montreal’s storied garment industry history. Of particular interest are projects that respond to, or bring together themes of immigration, fibre and textile history or practices, Jewish life and culture, and the city of Montreal. Projects that deal with other themes will be considered, but not prioritized.
Please note that this grant funds an average of $1500 per project, which includes an exhibition fee and a materials budget. Selected artists will also receive curatorial support by Museum staff, professional documentation, and the opportunity to have work on view to the public in the lower Plateau neighbourhood.
