In collaboration with the Concordia Institute for Canadian Jewish Studies, join us in welcoming Drs. Daniel and Irene Oore on their cross-country tour of Genocide and Improvisation: Listener and Teller.
Genocide and Improvisation: Listener and Telleris an intergenerational, interdisciplinary performance-talk, created and performed by son-mother duo, Drs. Daniel Ooreand Irene Oore, creatively and critically examining trauma, its transmission, and its transcendence. This event explores elements in Irene’s book The Listener: In the Shadow of the Holocaust, (2019), from which she and her son will also read and reflect upon. Throughout the evening Daniel will also perform music, improvisations, original compositions, soundscapes, and more. Through improvisation, the duo explore vulnerability and risk within these stories. Genocide and Improvisation: Listener and Telleris a conversation, within and across generations, cultures, languages, and disciplines, exploring memory and transcendence.
