Sultanna is A Moroccan Jew Who Makes A Moroccan Rug: A Film Screening
Thu June 22, 2023 @ 19:30 - 21:30
Join us for an evening steeped in culture, comedy, and introspection with the premiere screening of Sultanna is A Moroccan Jew Who Makes A Moroccan Rug by filmmaker Sultanna Krispil.
Sultanna is A Moroccan Jew Who Makes A Moroccan Rug is a personal documentary created by filmmaker Sultanna Krispil, which offers an exploration of her multifaceted heritage, her unusual upbringing, and her complex relationship with Judaism.
This is an invitation to experience the world through Sultanna’s eyes, where heritage and heart converge in a delightful, comedic collage of a film. The filmmaker grapples with a self-imposed challenge of crafting her own Moroccan rug, a symbolic expedition towards understanding and embracing her roots. Is the film a vlog? An animation? A DIY lesson in rug making? Or is it a small whisper to her Agadir-born ancestors?
On June 22, join us for an evening steeped in culture, comedy, and introspection. Enjoy some specially-spiced popcorn while you watch, laugh, feel some things, and explore your own cultural narrative. The evening promises to be social and personally creative. We hope you’ll join us!
